Family Fun Pool Features…

If you’re planning to build a swimming pool for everyone to enjoy, consider choosing family fun pool features that open up opportunities for both play and relaxation. Your swimming pool design can have many different options, and any of them offer unique ways to enhance your swimming experience.

Diving Boards

Diving boards are a classic well-loved family fun feature for your pool. If you are thinking of including a diving board in your backyard pool, it is always important to let your designer know early in the process. Pools with diving boards need to be a little bigger as they require a deep end.

Bubblers

Bubblers are upward facing water jets placed in shallow pool areas. The jet breaks the water surface in a bubbling fashion that kids and babies absolutely love! You can back light the bubblers with colored lights to add to the ambiance and create an impressive night display.

Grottos

Grottos are constructed out of a variety of stone and stone-like materials, and can be created in any size or scale. They use a combination of stone structure and flowing water to create a cave-like area that kids and adults will all enjoy. They are another classic addition to any pool and spa area, and can incorporate many other water features as well.

Sheer Descent Waterfalls

A sheer descent waterfall is a complementary water feature for a geometric pool style, given its matching crisp lines. Unlike the bubbling rock waterfall, which often accompanies freeform pools, the sheer descent provides a smooth cascade of water that continuously pours into the pool. Not only is it visually beautiful, but many also include this type of waterfall in their pool designs because of its many therapeutic qualities.

Spas

A true classic game-changer, there is nothing quite like going from the coolness of the pool to the warmth of the spa. When elevated, the spa also creates a dramatic focal point for your pool design. Consider giving your spa a spill-over feature – not only as a beautiful effect, but as an added fun feature for the kids.*

*Note: Always make sure children are well attended in the spa- while a spa tends to be more shallow, it is not a baby pool and still poses drowning risks.

Volleyball Net

When it comes to activities in the pool, installing a volleyball net can bring hours of family fun. Playing water volleyball is not only good exercise, but also a great way to spend more time with your family and friends. A pool builder can install fittings into your pool deck that will allow for easy set-up and take-down of your net.

Water Slides

A water slide is one of the biggest attractions for younger kids and the ultimate swimming pool classic. Kids love the feeling of the fall and big splash into the pool. Don’t worry, adults enjoy slides too! Try spending a few minutes with your kids on the slide this, or try it out as a surprise entrance to the pool. A pool slide ranges from prefabricated products to custom built designs (for example-using gunite or rock). A good custom design will use the elements of your pool to create a more subtle slide area that doesn’t detract from the overall style. At Geremia Pools & Landscaping, our designers are experienced in using this fun feature to enhance a waterfall or any other part of your pool area.

We hope you have found a few – or all of the above – features that you and your family will enjoy in your pool & spa area.
